Tebenna micalis, a rare migrant micro-moth, was found (by day) at Penlee Battery Reserve on 27th July. Since then it has been found at another ten sites near the coast in the Caradon up to at least 28th August.

Possible Pilot Whale (6) at Kingsand

On Tuesday 25th March 2008 around 09:30 Chris Wright and his wife saw a group of 4 to 7 (best guess 6) cetaceans about 50 metres offshore at Kingsand. They were described as over 4 metres long, all black, rounded head, large rounded dorsal and identified as pilot whales when shown illustrations in a book. Conditions were flat and good and they were heading SW towards Penlee Point.
